Two MCFC Players Attend U-20 U.S. Women's National Team Training Camp

Motor City Football club is proud to announce that two members from our 2015 Roster were invited to Under 20 Women’s National Team domestic training camp on April 11-18 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, California. Emily Ogle (Penn State; Strongsville, Ohio) and Kelly Sweeney (University of Michigan; Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) were invited to the camp in preparation for the 2016 FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Papau, New Guinea.

Emily Ogle

Emily Ogle is a new face to the Motor City family. She had a great freshmen year for Penn State University where she was awarded Big Ten Freshmen of the Year. This is not Emily first trip with the Under 20 National Team. Her last trip was in early March where they went undefeated in three matches at a friendly tournament in La Manga, Spain. Head coach Skipper Mukhtar is thrilled to have her on board:  “Emily will give us great ball control in the midfield this summer. We are exited to have Emily a part of our family. She will be bring a lot of international experience, along with her college team Mallory Webber.”

Kelly Sweeny

Kelly Sweeny is a new face to the United State National Team, but was on our inaugural team last year. Kelly was our second leading goal score after only playing in 4 games. Kelly will be attending the University of Michigan this fall as a Freshmen. She played her club soccer for Vardar Soccer Club ECNL Program. “Kelly has a work ethic that is second to none. She deserves this call up to the Under 20. She is a exciting player to watch during training and games,” says Mukhtar.
